* Description   

Desert hare appears yellowish brown .It is smaller

* Food 

Ditributed in Kachchh,Saurashtra and Banaskantha areas of Gujarat.

* Habitat 

In and around vegetated bushes in the 'rann' grasslands and country side.

* Behaviour  

Nocturnal.behaviour is similar to that of Indian hare.

* Signs of presence

Pellets and hairs entangled in thorny bushes.



All hares live in simple 'nests'above the ground, and usually do not live in groups,whereas rabbits (excepr the cottontail rabbits of north america)Live underground in burrows or warrens.Hares are generally larger than rabbits,with longer ears and hind legs,and have black markings on their fur.Hares,unlike rabbits have not been domesticated.However the diet of hare and rabbit is very similar.Rabbit occur only in captivity in out region.India,there are a total of 410 species of mammals constituting 8.6 % Of global mammalian species. IUCN has recorded 124 of them as threatened mammals
