Description
It has medium sized, almost uniformly dull brown body and brilliant eyes.
FOOD
Herbivorous. This bat feeds on juice of ripe fruits and flowers.
Distribution
It is distributed all over Gujarat.
Habitat
Inhabits forest areas, woodlands, orchards, gardens in cities and towns etc.
Behaviour
This is a nocturnal mammal that roosts in caves, tunnels, wells, abandoned premises, ruins etc. It is very noisy while roosting. It flies heavily with slow w ing beats.

This is a gregarious bat. One can come across the roost with up to 2,000 bats. Usually, such roosts have both males and females. However, the roosts only with males or only with females are also known. They have acute sense of smell. Their eyes look much brighter than the insectivorous bats. Their memory regarding the location of fruit-bearing trees in their respective areas is very good. They feed only on the juice of fruits.
