 Whitethroated Munia

Size  : 10 c.m.

Gujarati : પવઈ નીયા ુ , તક ે ંઠ ટિશ ુ , ુટિશ ુ ,

Although widespread, the small size and pale colors do not make the tapusi stand out.  Simple in appearance.  No sweetness in the throat.  His speech slowed down like a whistle.  In small groups of five to ten, weaving the seeds of the plant from the ground.  Its color blends in with the surrounding floor so that it does not appear soon.  Not shy by nature.  Go closer and fly and sit in a nearby tree.  As soon as you go a little farther it comes back down to the ground and starts to grind.  Its habitat in shallow thorns and farm paddy.  Predominantly carnivorous, but also feeds on chicks.  Dusty brown on top and muddy white on the bottom, its color, wings and pointed tail are blackish brown.  Rough and white throat, petals whitish.  Beak short, thick and gray.  Legs light brown, males identical to females.  Apart from this, let's identify another tapusiya.

Sugari is clever in digesting a bird called Tapusiyu, a beautifully woven house.  Tapusis rarely make garlands.  Most make a home in abandoned nests of sugar cane.  Sugari and Tapusia are also related in this way, the yellow bird in the photo is Sugari (male) and all the others are Tapusias.

The sugar nest is world famous, the sugar bird never uses one of the nests a second time, the male makes a new one every year.  Then the female comes to see it and wears a garland if she likes.  Then the world begins and the chicks are raised and moved, what is to happen to the nest happens.  But soon after, Tapusiya comes and takes over the architect's wreath and continues his world in it.  This yellow color of the sugar male is seen only during the mating season i.e. monsoon, the rest of the time it looks like a cockroach.  And Tapusia's thick beak helps identify it.  Tapusia is called Indian Silverbill in English and Sugar is called Baya Weaver.

Bring a nest down and hang it at home and then put it in the yard of the house to grind a little kang (a kind of grain) every day, then tapusis will come from anywhere and find a nest and make a home.  This experiment is successful in the monsoon.Which bird applicable in Mumbai?
