Most of you must have seen lizards in your home.  There are more than 1500 species of lizards in the world.  Origin of lizards on earth It is believed to be 200 million years old.  Lizards are found all over the world except Antarctica.  Lizards are related to reptiles.  Its scientific name is Laserilia.  The special thing about the lizard is its tail.  The interesting thing about its tail is that whenever a lizard senses danger, it separates its tail from its body.  But the funny thing is that the lizard's tail grows again in a month.  The lizard senses the smell by its tongue.  Because of this he keeps sticking out his tongue every now and then.  The main food of the lizard is small moths, worms, spiders and other small creatures moving in the light.

The lizard's body is divided into four parts namely head, neck, torso and tail.  The length of a lizard roaming in the house is 3 to 4 inches.  Their body color is brown.  However, as the lizard grows older, its body color changes.  The lizard named Komodo Dragon is the longest lizard in the world.  It is about 10 feet long and is found in forests.  Some lizards are also like snakes.  This type of lizard is identified by its ears.  Some Lizards can also change their body color.  Most lizards are not poisonous.  Peacocks are considered lizard enemies, as they eat lizards.  Most lizards hide during the day and go out at night in search of food.  The main reason why lizards get stuck on the wall is because lizards have four small legs as well as their body shape is something that helps them to get stuck on the wall.  There is also air pressure on lizards.  There is a vacuum between the wall and the lizard, so that the lizard's legs stick to the wall.  In India, lizards are known by different names.  It is called Palli in Tamil, Tiktiki in Bengali, Halli in Kannada and Pal in Marathi.  The lifespan of a lizard is five years.
